“All new media have helped us to get into the sport”
And that is something good. Despite what has been said and heard over the years, if we take a look at the media landscape and precisely at the Formula 1 sphere, we will notice a huge increase in numbers in recent years, even in those considered as ‘the most boring’ ones. This, as expected, comes from new media forms, and of the attempt of adjusting and making the sport a transmedia universe.
Now, not many studies talk about this application to the motorsport category, or they do so by focusing on other aspects. As a female fan of the F1 community myself, I decided to analyze this a few months ago, and to show the results I had been seeing in my everyday life. And that is how The transmediality of Formula 1: analysis of its consequences from a female audience viewpoint and their engagement and influence in a globalised media event comes to reality.
This project represents months of hard work and research, along with the conduction of surveys and personal interviews, in order to represent a topic that exists but it’s not as acknowledged or studied enough. Although limited by the amount of words in my final thesis guidelines, the 90 pages that compose this work have very positive conclusions, proving the established hypothesis correct.
Thus, it is needed to highlight the work of women, as the activity of this audience remains crucial in the preservation and extension of a major and global sport like Formula 1 is.
You can read all about that in the PDF attached below :)
